Borden Church of England Primary School
Borden primary school opened in 1848 as part of the National Schools programme.
The school is situated in School Lane opposite Munsgrove Lane, in what was known as Limepits Cross.
The 1861, 1871 and 1881 census shows the school master, living on site in School House, was Kenelm William Edwards (1834 – 1912) from Suffolk. The 1881 census records his 20 year old daughter Patience was an assistant school mistress.
To the left is a photo of the senior pupils of Borden primary school ,with Mr Smith the headmaster, in 1947. Several members of the class are absent from the photo, because of an outbreak of chicken pox at the time.
